Governor Yusuf Distributes 73,800 Desks to Kano Schools
In a major step towards improving education in Kano State, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has distributed 73,800 three-seater desks to schools across the 44 local government areas. This initiative is part of the governor’s broader commitment to enhancing learning conditions in public schools under the State of Emergency on Education.
Speaking at the distribution ceremony held at the Trade Fair Complex, Governor Yusuf highlighted that the provision of furniture is not just about comfort but restoring confidence and hope among students. He emphasized that these durable desks will benefit current and future generations, ensuring students have a conducive learning environment.

The governor also called on communities and stakeholders to work together to maintain the desks and treat schools as centers of excellence. He expressed gratitude to over 11,000 young carpenters and welders who played a key role in crafting the furniture for this large-scale project.
State Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Haruna Doguwa, praised the governor’s efforts, stating that the new furniture will significantly ease learning in public schools. The Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Yusuf Kabir, assured that the desks will be evenly distributed to schools across the state and urged students and teachers to use the furniture responsibly.

This gesture is seen as a key step in addressing the long-standing issues within the education sector and fulfilling promises made during the 2023 election campaign.
