The Nasarawa State Government has announced plans to set up Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) bi-fuel conversion centres across its three senatorial zones. This initiative aims to address the rising cost of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) following the federal government’s removal of the petroleum subsidy.

Governor Abdullahi Sule revealed the plan during a graduation ceremony for 50 auto-technicians in Lafia. These technicians, selected from the Nigerian Automobile Technicians Association, underwent a five-day training on LNG/CNG bi-fuel system conversion at the PAN Learning Centre in Kaduna State.

Governor Sule emphasized that these centres will help reduce the impact of high fuel prices and promote cleaner energy alternatives. He stated, “We are setting up conversion centres in each senatorial zone, starting with Lafia. These will handle repairs, maintenance, and even the production of parts. The future of energy is clean, and Nasarawa is embracing it.”

He also commended the efforts of Habiba Balarabe-Suleiman, Director General of the Human Capital Development Agency, for her ongoing contributions to the state. The governor urged the newly trained technicians to apply their skills for personal and societal benefit.

Hussaini Abubakar, Director General of PAN Learning Centre, thanked the government for its investment in sustainable energy training. He explained that the training equipped technicians to safely convert vehicles from petrol to LNG/CNG.
