OAUSTECH Receives Approval for Petroleum and Gas Engineering and Five Other Programmes from NUC
The Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), located in Okitipupa, Ondo State, has officially received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to offer a new undergraduate programme in Petroleum and Gas Engineering. In addition to this, five other courses have been approved, expanding the institution’s academic offerings for the 2024/2025 session.
The newly accredited programmes include:
- B.Eng. Petroleum and Gas Engineering
- B.Eng. Chemical Engineering
- BSc Economics
- BSc Public Administration
- BSc Public Health
- B.MLS Medical Laboratory Science
Temi Ologunorisa, the Vice-Chancellor of OAUSTECH, shared this development during a press briefing, noting that the NUC conducted a resource verification visit to the university. The purpose of this visit was to evaluate the institution’s readiness in terms of human and material resources required to run these academic programmes effectively.

The NUC’s approval was conveyed through a letter dated September 6, signed by Abubakar Gerei, the commission’s acting director of academic planning. The letter confirmed that these programmes will commence in the 2024/2025 academic year.
Ologunorisa expressed his enthusiasm for the new approvals, encouraging prospective students to consider OAUSTECH as a top choice for their higher education, especially in the newly accredited fields.
