VeryDarkMan Responds to Falz’s Legal Action, Denies Defamatory Claims
In response to the recent legal steps taken by popular Nigerian artist and activist Falz, social media influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has issued an official reply regarding the alleged defamatory statements against Falz’s father, Mr. Femi Falana, SAN. The response follows a demand for the withdrawal and retraction of an Instagram post shared by VeryDarkMan, which involved a voice recording between Bobrisky (Okuneye Idris Olarenwaju) and a third party.
In a statement released by VeryDarkMan’s legal team, he categorically denies any defamation of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Femi Falana. He emphasized that the shared voice recording was published to encourage relevant agencies, including Mr. Femi Falana himself, to initiate an investigation into the serious allegations made by Bobrisky in the recording.

VeryDarkMan’s response makes it clear that his intention was not to tarnish the reputation of the renowned human rights lawyer. Instead, he seeks to promote a thorough investigation into the claims, which have already gained some credibility, as acknowledged in Falz’s legal letter dated September 25, 2024. His legal representatives pointed out that the solicitor’s letter from Mr. Folarin Falana, SAN, confirmed certain aspects of the voice recording, which further justifies a formal investigation.
In his statement, VeryDarkMan reiterated his respect for Mr. Femi Falana, SAN, and recognized his significant contributions to human rights and the rule of law in Nigeria. However, he firmly believes that pursuing a defamation case is not the appropriate course of action. Instead, he urged all involved parties to focus on interagency cooperation to investigate the serious allegations made in the recording.
